Welcome to the first post on my new blog and what better cards to start with! Aren’t these monsters adorable? And wiper cards are so fun! So here’s a little tutorial for anyone interested.
I’m very new to Copic Markers so I stamped the images from the Concord and 9th Monster Love Stamp and Die Bundle four times using Gina K amalgam black ink to practice coloring them. I watched this tutorial to try to give them some texture. The markers used are RV 02, RV 04, RV 06 for the heart, BV 05, BV 09, BV 11 for the big monster, YR 02, YR 04, YR 07 for the little one and W1, W3, W5 for the hands, fingers and feet. I also added some texture and highlights with a white gel pen. I added white gel pen to brighten the teeth and a black gel pen to make the eyes stand out more.
For each card, I used the new Mama Elephant Wiper Card Die. The above card was cut from Gina K ocean mist and grass green card stock. I used the My Favorite Things cloud stencil and mermaid lagoon distress oxide for the background piece. The green piece was then cut from Lawn Fawn hillside borders dies. Were I to do it again, I would make the green piece taller. The “hi” is cut from Gina K passionate pink card stock. I attached it above the monster with Gina K connect glue and clear plastic from packaging.
The second card also used Gina K ocean mist card stock die cut with the Honey Bee Stamps cloud borders die . The cloud background was done using the same stencil as the first card on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110lb card stock and picked raspberry distress oxide. The greeting was heat embossed with Hero Arts detail white embossing powder.
I must admit I couldn’t figure out how to add the piece that pops up. I found this tutorial on the Mama Elephant blog. It made things so clear! After both cards were assembled I added star dust stickles to both hearts and the “hi” die cut.
So how did I do? Constructive criticism is appreciated and I’d love to see any comments or questions you may have (assuming anyone reads this)! I apologize for the square photos today. They were intended for Instagram. Next time I will have better sized photos.
