Do you ever fall in love with a stamp set and you just have to have it? I do that all the time but when I started playing around with this one I had so much trouble making something I liked. I stamped the Concord and 9th To The Point turnabout stamp in Altenew inks from the Green Meadows, Sea Shore and Summer Afternoon sets. Though it turned out beautiful it was just too bold for me. So I cut it up!
I inked the edges of Gina K kraft card stock with vintage photo Distress Oxide and placed a quarter of the original stamped image in the center. And I loved it! Before adhering it I inked up the edges of this piece with mermaid lagoon Distress Oxide.
I die cut the cactus from the Concord and 9th To the Point die set from Gina K lucky clover card stock, then inked with lucky clover Distress Oxide. The flowers were cut from Gina K coral reef and inked with abandoned coral Distress Oxide. The pot cut from Gina K slate card stock was inked with black soot Distress Oxide, though that is barely noticeable.
I finished things off with some highlights using a Sakura white gel pen, white nuvo drops and dashed lines around the stamped piece. Originally I had stamped the greeting directly to the card below the stamped piece and then added black and white nuvo drops throught. I really didn’t like it so I took everything off the first kraft card, inked a new one and adhered everything down again. Since I had stamped the greeting as one line instead of two as it is in the stamp set, I cut it from the first background and adhered it with foam tape.
I was done. I loved it. It reminded me of southwest decor. And that led me to the idea for my second card.
I inked up a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 piece of Bristol smooth card stock with squeezed lemonade, spiced marmalade and fired brick distress oxides. Once it was dry I stamped the turnabout stamp using Versamark Ink and heat embossed with Ranger black embossing powder. I then die cut a rectangle window from the center. I also cut a scrap piece of black card stock to frame my window. Both were cut using Hero Arts Nesting Infinity Dies.
I cut the “sand” from a kraft scrap with the Essentials by Ellen Winter Window die set and inked it with vintage photo Distress Oxide. The cactus was from the same black scrap as above and the background was from Gina K edible eggplant card stock. I heat embossed the greeting in hero arts detail white embossing powder then die cut the stars from Essentials by Ellen Star Trail die. I backed it with a scrap of silver glitter card stock. Everything was mounted with foam tape. I then added stardust glitter pen to the cactus and the sand.
This one reminded me of a window looking out into the desert at night. I didn’t give up and these turned out to be cards I’m quite fond of.
