This card came out just how I imagined it would. I kept the color palette small and I love how the red stands out against the dark blue background.
I started by blending blueprint sketch, chipped sapphire and black soot Distress Oxides on a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 piece of Bristol smooth card stock. I used the Distress Sprayer to get the nice distressed sky look and then sprayed the entire background with perfect pearls in a Mister. Once it dried I die cut the background with the Essentials by Ellen Starry Night background die and then heat embossed the greeting from the Essentials by Ellen It’s a Date with Hero Arts silver sparkle embossing powder. That may not have been the best choice of embossing powder for the greeting or I pressed too hard when stamping but it’s legible and I didn’t like any fixes I came up with so I left it alone. I backed the stars with a scrap of silver glitter paper from the Hero Arts October 2018 My Monthly Hero kit.
I stamped the Essentials by Ellen City Leading Lady and Leading Gentleman on Neenah Solar White 110lb card stock. I used the following Copic Markers:
Faces: E00, E11, E13
Hair: E55, E57, E59
Her top, purse and the hear: R24, R27, R29
His shirt: R20, R22, R24
Bouquet: R20, R22, R24, R27, R29, YG17, YG23
Her pants: C1, C3
His pants: N4, N6, N8
I die cut the pieces and adhered them with foam tape. I hadn’t originally planned to have them partially off the page but I a bit of copic ink got on her pants and I wasn’t about to recolor her. I think this way looks better anyway!
I used a gold pen to color in the handle of her purse and a white gel pen to clean up the white parts of her top. I added Wink of Stella to the purse and heart. I also added some star sequins from the Hero Arts March 2018 My monthly Hero kit and Gina K Connect Glue.
I didn’t have a matching envelope so I added the Concord and 9th Hugs and Kisses turnabout stamp with Altenew Tea Party ink pack to a white envelope.
Happy Valentines Day!
