I had only intended to make two cards but when I started looking through my glitter and shimmer cardstock I found several I thought were perfect so I made six! Everything on these cards is from the February My Monthly Hero kit or a previous kit from Hero Arts. The only exception is the black glitter paper and the Gina K Sea Glass card stock.
To make the cards, I die cut the six papers using the decorative die from the kit. Most of the pieces stuck to the cutting plate so before I moved them I put yellow painter’s tape on the back to hold them together and flipped it to the right side. Then, if any pieces were stuck in the die or had fallen somewhere else, I replaced them.
Next, I swapped frames. I quickly realized that in order to keep these die cuts together, I either had to leave the tape on the back or put tape on the front. I didn’t think they’d be secure enough held to a card backed with painter’s tape and the tape would possibly ruin the front of the pieces, especially the glitter paper. So I ran to Walmart and bought Glad Press and Seal. I’ve see many card makers using it in their YouTube videos a lot but had never tried it.
I placed the Press and Seal on the right side of the paper and flipped it over. I gently pealed off the painter’s tape. Some pieces tried to stick to the tape but nothing ripped. When I do this again, I’ll definitely use the Press and Seal on the back too.
I removed the large center piece, saving the gold metallic, gold shimmer and white shimmer pieces of the frame then added foam tape to cover the entire back of the inlaid frames. Before adhering them I stamped a sentiment with embossing ink and heat embossed in either black, white, gold or silver as appropriate. I was pleased to see the heat did not ruin the metallic paper.
I then mounted the frames to a coordinating color of card stock. For the gold metallic, gold shimmer and white shimmer inner pieces, I added those back in flat. I finished off by adding sequins to each card.
I am so pleased with how these turned out! They were quite simple to create but make quite an impact.
