Hello! I’m so excited to share my first post for the A Blog Named Hero Facebook Team. The March challenge was embossing and I thought it would be fun to add partial heat embossing to a die cut word.
Supplies:
Color Layering Waves Stamp Set
Color Layerings Sea and Sky Stamp Set
Birthday stamp is from March 2018 My Monthly Hero Kit
I used the Sunshine Mix Layering Paper pack that is no longer available at Hero Arts but you could use Hero Hues Premium Cardstock in Canary and Papaya instead.
I cut the poppy paper to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. I stamped the ocean layers with Butter Bar, Orange Soda and Just Rust inks. I masked off the ocean area then created a sunset with the same three colors using makeup blending brushes. I stamped the clouds onto the daffodil paper using the Lemon Yellow and Butter Bar inks and die cut them.
I die cut the happy die four times from the poppy paper. I pressed the Versamark ink into the bottom half of the word trying to avoid making a straight line. After adding the embossing powder I used a paintbrush to wipe away some of the powder. After heating the powder I used an embossing pen to add a few more random spots of embossing powder. I glued all four die cuts together.
I stamped and heat embossed the word stamp and the shells onto the daffodil paper. I laid out all the pieces and before adhering anything I stamped the birds with Just Rust ink. I also inked the edges of the panel and all die cuts with Butter Bar ink to give everything a softer look. I adhered the clouds with foam adhesive and the die cut word and shells with liquid glue. I cut off the overhanging clouds and added those pieces to the panel as well. I adhered the panel to a white A2 card base.
When I was finished I had a few more ideas. It would be fun to use the sand embossing powder on the die cut word. I think using gold embossing powder for the third ocean layer would look great also.
The March Challenge has ended but you can still head over to A Blog Named Hero for inspiration! And be sure to like the A Blog Named Hero Facebook Page!
