Butterfly Sympathy Card

I’m sharing one more sympathy card for the A Blog Named Hero June Challenge. The challenge has ended but you should still check out the blog and like the A Named Hero Facebook page!

Supplies:

Monarch Butterfly Fancy Die

Ornate Floral Stencil

Color Layering Sea and Sky stamp set

Hero Hues Reactive Inks in Taffy, Berry Smoothie, Thistle, Grape Slush

Hero Hues Premium Card stock in Plum

Clear Embossing and Watermark ink

White Detail Embossing powder

I began by centering the butterfly die as best I could on a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2″ piece of Neenah 120lb card stock and cutting it out. I then set the butterfly aside and taped the stencil to the card stock and ran it through my Gemini Jr. I added the die cut butterfly back into the card stock and taped it in place. Using that piece as a guide, I added ink to a piece of Bristol Smooth card stock cut to the same size with the lightest at the edges and the darkest towards the center.

Next I added foam tape to the back of the embossed piece. I only added foam tape to the center of the butterfly so the wings could pop up. I adhered the embossed piece to the ink blended piece. I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment on a scrap of card stock, trimmed it and added it with foam tape. And that’s it for this simple yet elegant card!

The next A Blog Named Hero challenge will start in a few days and I’ll have another card to share for it in a few weeks!
