Simon Says Stamp Sunshine Card Stock

Strathmore Bristol Smooth 9×12 Paper

For this card I cut a piece of Bristol Smooth Card Stock to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2″. I stamped the background stamp using Picked Raspberry and Seedless Preserves oxide inks. I then blended those same inks over top of the stamped panel. I set this aside to dry overnight.

Next, I stamped the large sentiment with embossing ink onto the inked panel, added white embossing powder and heated it. I did the same with the small sentiment on a scrap piece of colored card stock. I die cut the panel with the largest wonky die then added the small sentiment with foam tape. I added Nuvo Drops and mounted the panel to an A2 card base once they were dry.

For the second card I ink blended with Carved Pumpkin, Wild honey and Squeezed Lemonade distress oxide inks and then stamped the background in the darker two colors only. I let this dry overnight. I used the metal word dies as a place holder while I arranged the sentiments along the circle lines. I stamped them with embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. I placed the panel in the Misti, laid the stamp straight against the circle edge and then fussed with it until I had the curve just right. It didn’t take too long but it was fussy.

I next added stick-it adhesive to a piece of yellow fun foam, pealed off the backer and added yellow card stock. I die cut the large words from this piece and placed them on the card panel at an angle. I was able to move them around a bit until I got the perfect placement and then pressed them firmly in place. I stamped and heat embossed the tiny sentiment on the same yellow card stock and added that with foam tape. I added a bit of Carved Pumpkin ink to the edges so it would blend in better. I added some Nuvo Drops to this panel as well and adhered it to an A2 card base once they were dry.

I want to thank Courtney Kreeber for organizing this Hop. I enjoyed making these cards and look forward to seeing everyone else’s.

The next person is Dawn Soto with a video. Go here to watch it!

  2. I love how you stamped curved sentiments to follow the background stamp all over the card. So clever!

  3. loved both of these cards, the ink blending is just perfect, and those tiny encoragment sentiments showed up so well on that background

  4. I love these cards! Especially love the curved sentiments. They fit so well on that background.

Your cards are amazing Jennifer. love the subtle use of the daisy stamps on the background. Everything pops and love your colour choices, including the sentiment.

  6. Both of these cards are gorgeous!!! I especially love the one with the circles! I used to fuss with curved sentiments til I saw a tip by Iliana at Sweet Petunia. She laid down a piece of acetate over the piece she was trying to stamp on, then put the stamp on that and positioned it. The stamp kinda sticks to the acetate (like it does the packaging it comes in) and make it super easy to get it just right. Just close the door, peel off the acetate, and you are ready to stamp!

    1. Thank you! I did try to use acetate but they wouldn’t stay in place. I think it’s probably because they are very tiny. Your comment got me thinking that maybe they would stick better to another clear stamp like one used for mirror stamping. I’ll try that next time.

  7. Oh I just LOVE these sentiments. What beautiful cards!!!! Truly! Thank you for joining in!! Hugs!

  8. I love your blending and never thought to stamp using the same colors I blended for the background. Thanks for sharing! Love your cards.

  9. I love love both these cards! What a creative talent you have! I am very impressed with the techniques you used on both of them…. from the stamping and ink blending in like colors to the curved sentiments… great job!

I love your cards. TFS Such a fun card. TFS I’m a card maker so I’m always looking for new ideas.

  11. I love the way you combined so many techniques without overwhelming the cards. I especially like the sentiments curved along the circle background. Thanks for sharing!
