Today I’m sharing a clean and simple spinner card. I love interactive cards but sometimes they can take a lot of time. Not this one!
I began by stamping the background stamp onto a piece of 5×5″ lapis cardstock using an ombré ink pad. I held the ink pad so the dark was at the top then flipped it so the dark was coming in from the bottom. Once that was dry I die cut a circle from the center. I also stamped s as bd heat embossed the greeting in the bottom right corner.
I stamped the dragonfly twice and colored it in using Copic markers. I used purples, blues and blue greens but kept the second number close together to help them blend.
I cut a piece of white cardstock to 5×10″ and scored it at 5″. I lined up the blue piece, taped the circle die into place and die cut the circle from the card base. Make sure the card base is not folded. The circle only needs to be cut from the card front.
Make sure the card opens to the side and not the top. It will still spin when top folded but the image will be upside down. I adhered the circle cut from the blue cardstock to the inside of the card base. Then I adhered some clear thread to the front of the card base with strong adhesive tape. Next, I placed the stamped background on top to sandwich the thread between the two. I then used liquid glue to adhere the dragonfly together over the thread in the open hole.
That’s it! Twist the dragonfly around several times, close the card keeping it in place and place in an envelope. When the recipient opens the card the dragonfly will spin. What a wonderful surprise!
