This card was inspired by lesson three from Clean and Simple Boutique Cards at Altenew Academy. This blog post is for the Altenew Educator Certification Program.
I began with a 4 1/4×5 1/2″ panel of white cardstock. Using a Misti stamping tool, I stamped the most solid layer first in the lightest color from the Tea Party ink pack. I removed the stamp from the Misti then placed the outline layer of the leaf. It overlapped slightly with the image so after inking the stamp I used my finger to wipe away the ink from the overlapping area before stamping. I repeated this process twice more moving the stamp to a new location each time.
While I was stamping the leaves it gave the flower time to dry so I could move on to the second layer. I lined up the second layer following the layering guide on the back of the stamp package then stamped it in the second lightest color. While this layer dried I stamped the solid layer of the leaves. I then stamped the third layer of the flower. After this I set the panel aside to dry completely.
Before I began the next step I made sure the image was dry by pouring on some embossing powder. It fell right off so my image was dry and ready for the next step. I placed the outline image then stamped with clear embossing ink and added gold embossing powder and heat set it.
The last piece I added was the sentiment. I tried to use the “thank you” included in the stamp set. Normally I would have stamped and heat embossed it slightly overlapping the image but since the image was already heat embossed I couldn’t. I originally stamped the sentiment on black cardstock heat embossed with gold. I added foam tape and placed it overlapping the image.
I set the panel aside on my desk. Every time I looked at it I knew something was wrong. The black cardstock was too overwhelming for this card. I thought about using vellum for the sentiment but in the end I decided to find a smaller sentiment that sits snuggled up by the flower. I stamped it in the darkest ink color. You can’t miss the sentiment but it keeps the focus on the flower.
This card was very simple to create. It is the perfect card to make multiples of at one time. You could use different ink sets or stamp onto colored cardstock instead of white. You could use the same sentiment for all of them or use different sentiments of roughly the same size.
