The Papercraft Business Challenge is taking a break this month but will return on January 6, 2020. The challenge winners will be announced then. Check out the post on the Papercraft Business Challenge Blog for more information.
As soon as I saw this stamp set I knew I wanted to make this spinning Santa card and it was super easy to make. I began by cutting the cardstock to 5 x 5″and stamped my most used background stamp onto blue cardstock with navy ink. There was no way to avoid the moon showing up on the card but I’ll hide that later.
I stamped the earth and Santa with copic safe ink and colored them with copic markers. After I die cut the images, I added white highlights to Santa and decoration to the presents.
I used a circle die a few sizes bigger than the earth to cut a circle out of the center of the stamped panel. I adhered the circle to the white card base. In the future I must remember to use a color closer to the front piece. The white stands out too much.
I stamped the stars and planet with embossing ink and covered it with silver embossing powder. I put the planet over the moon to disguise it. I stamped and heat embossed the greeting with white embossing powder.
I adhered the panel with two layers of foam tape to the white card base. I added three layers to the earth but did not adhere it yet. I added four layers of round foam tape pieces to Santa and the other side to a penny. I decided where I wanted Santa to sit when not spinning and placed a stopper of foam tape to hold him in place. I carefully slipped the earth into place keeping the penny under the earth and background.
Santa should spin freely to the stopper by moving the card around. It’s so much fun! You can see a video of this card in action in my Instagram feed. Don’t forget to check back for a new challenge next year!
