Encouragement Card – Papercraft Business Challenge

The January challenge at Papercraft Business Challenge is anything goes so I created this die cut inlay card inspired by my own card I created last year around this time. This die and the other two similar ones are favorites of mine and I don’t use them nearly enough. I created a second version of this you can see on my Instagram page.

This card started with a prism rainbow pattern paper I had in my stash. I die cut the pattern paper and black cardstock with the die. Use a piece of cling wrap to hold all the little die cut pieces in place. It will save a lot of time in the end! I used the original solid leaf die to cut a piece of vellum. I knew I wanted to pop the leaves on foam tape so I backed them with vellum to make them more secure. I glued the black outline to the vellum first then inlaid the rainbow pieces. I glued the stem piece directly to the teal cardstock then placed small bits of foam tape under the leaves to pop them up. I curled some of them up for more interest.

Next, I added the sentiment. I toyed with the idea of adding it over the center of the die on another piece of cardstock on foam tape but decided to go more simple and keep with my original design. I stamped the simple greeting with embossing ink and heat embossed with black embossing powder. I added some navy and purple dye ink to the edges to complete the design. I also used a Nuvo shimmer pen on the pattern paper leaves.

This is a simple design that makes a stunning card. The most challenging part is laying all the pattern paper pieces but if you’re smart about it that will go quickly. I can’t wait to see the projects you create for this challenge. 2. Beautiful creation! I love everything about it. I don’t know the cling wrap technique, so I’ll have to figure out this short cut. Checked out the other cards you linked to – ALL beautiful!

    1. Thank you so much! Here is a link to a YouTube video using the cling wrap technique. I’ll add a link in my post as well.
