The January challenge at A Blog Named Hero has ended but I have two cards to share today. My daughter is going on to high school next year and will be leaving two music teachers and many orchestra friends so I decided to start working on some cards she can give to them. I’m including a step by step photo tutorial for each card. I’m sharing the butterfly card here and the thank you card on my Facebook page.
This is the simpler card involving embossing with a die and a little die cutting.
Using the Dancing Music Notes Confetti Die, emboss a piece of white carstock. Check out this post from Jennifer McGuire to see how it’s done.
Die cut the butterfly from the January 2020 My Monthly Hero Kit from metallic cardstock. This kit is sold out but here are some other options.
Stamp the sentiment from Mix and Match Compliments onto cardstock the same color as the butterfly with Embossing and Watermark Ink and heat emboss with White Detail Embossing Powder. Use a paper trimmer to cut it small enough.
Next I created a frame for the card. Place the third and fourth largest rectangle dies from the Nesting Rectangles Infinity Dies together evenly and tape them together.
Tape the dies to the cardstock that matches the sentiment and run in through your die cutting machine.
Adhere the frame to the embossed card panel with liquid glue so there’s some time to straighten it if needed.
Place foam tape on the sentiment and foam circles close to the body of the butterfly to pop the wings.
Adhere the butterfly and sentiment to the card panel. Use liquid glue to adhere the butterfly’s body.
Use a shimmer pen over the music notes for a little shine.
This card is a bit more involved with lots of die cutting and gluing. Visit my Facebook Page for a video tutorial. It’s still only photos but I’d love to get your feedback.
I used the Dancing Music Notes Confetti Die, the Nesting Rectangle Infinity Dies and the March 2018 My Monthly Hero Kit. Most of the cardstock is scraps from various companies but the black cardstock is Hero Hues Pitch Black.
I hope you like my cards and found these tutorials helpful. I’d love to hear any comments or question you have. Be sure to visit and like the A Blog Named Hero Facebook Page for more inspiration. A new challenge starts in a few days. Thanks for visiting!
