I am continuing to work my way through the Level 1 classes for the Altenew Educator Certification Program. This month I completed Easy Ink Blending Techniques. Though I am not as new to ink blending as I am to layering stamps, the class was both informative and a good refresher for me.
I began by stamping the tulips and leaves from the Triumph Tulip Build-a-Flower using Summer afternoon Mini Cube inks. I die cut everything and began playing around with arrangements. After I settled on the above arrangement, I used a piece of press and seal to pick up the flowers and leaves, keeping them how I wanted them.
I used Turquoise and Sea Breeze from the Deep Blue Seas Mini Cube Set to lightly ink blend from the center fading out to the edges. I added liquid glue to the back flower and leaves and adhered them in place. I used foam tape on the front tulip and two leaves and placed them on the card. I stamped the greeting just under the leaf on the left in Obsidian Pigment Ink.
For the second card I stamped the tulips with the Warm and Cozy Mini Cube Set. I ink blended over the Leaves and Berries Stencil in Silver Stone and Limestone from the Rock Collection Mini Cube Set.
Both cards are beautiful but the second steps things up a bit. I considered adding paint splatters on the ink blending but in the end I decided against it. I like the simplicity of the cards. In addition I wasn’t certain what color to splatter.
I was inspired by the cards in lesson one. I liked the dye cut flower arrangements over the ink blending. I hope you liked my cards and found this tutorial helpful. Thanks for visiting!
They look beautful! I especially love the blue blending as it adds some dimension to it and it really stands out!
Thank you! I love how simple it was to make the flowers stand out more.
Both cards are stunning but I am drawn to the subtle texture of the background on the second card! Beautiful work, keep it up!
Thank you for entering your work to the AECP assignment gallery.
