Die Cut Cake Birthday Card

The February challenge at A Blog Named Hero has ended but we always need more birthday cards so I’ve got one more for you today. I’ve used the February 2020 kit for my card which is sold out but this idea can be easily adapted to other Hero Arts products.

I began with an 4 1/4” x 5 1/2” panel of white cardstock. I ink blended over it with reactive inks starting with Blue Raspberry on bottom and Pool Party on top. I spritzed it with water and set it aside to dry.

I die cut the cake from white cardstock and used Copic markers to color it. For the cake stand I used C1, C3, C5. The cake itself uses RV00, RV23. The decorations and candles use RV19, RV14, RV11, BG000, BG11, BG15, YR07, Y15, Y17. I added white highlights with a gel pen.

Once the ink blended panel was dry, I stamped the background stamp on it using the same colors as I did for ink blending. I stamped Surprise from the Surprise Gift stamp set with embossing ink and heat embossed with white detail embossing powder. I added foam tape to the cake and the sentiment strip and adhered them to the card panel. I placed the panel on an A2 card base.

I hope you like my card and found the tutorial helpful. Don’t forget to visit and follow the A Blog Named Hero Facebook Page. There’s always great inspiration there! A new challenge will be starting soon. Thanks for visiting!
