Shaker Ornament – A Blog Named Hero See Through Element Challenge

Hello! I’m here with another project for the current see through element challenge at A Blog Named Hero. I used the October 2020 My Monthly Hero, which upon posting this is still available!

Die cut the ornament twice from white cardstock for the shaker, once from Hero Hues Cherry Cardstock for the back and once from acetate. Die cut the oval from the center of one ornament for the front.

Blend on Hero Arts Navy Ink about 2/3 of the way down the inside ornament piece getting lighter as you go. Set this aside to dry.

Stamp the deer onto white cardstock using Navy ink. Die cut them. I think my navy is drying out so these were stamped multiple times using the Misti Stamping tool to make them darker.

Once inner piece is dry, stamp snowflakes with Embossing and Watermark Ink. Add white Sparkle embossing powder from the kit and heat with a heat tool.

Place front piece in the Misti position the ornament stamp over it and repeat as above. Stamp the sentiment on the red piece with Embossing and Watermark Ink. Add White Detail Embossing Powder and heat with a heat tool.

Adhere the red piece to the back of the ink blended piece. Add acetate to the back of the front piece. Add foam adhesive all the way around the front piece, leaving no gaps.

Adhere the deer to the front of the ornament. Add a red ribbon and a silver bow.

Add micro beads, flakes and prisma glitter (from the October 2019 kit). Place a small amount of glue on foam adhesive and place back piece on top. The glue will help the backer slide around to get it in place.

I regret using foam adhesive. I would recommend die cutting the ornament and the oval dies taped together multiple times. It would give a cleaner appearance on the outside as well as not leave any minuscule gaps for the glitter to escape through. I added tiny bits of foam adhesive stuffed into the spots glitter was leaking from.

You could use this ornament on the front of a card and make it removable. Or you could use it as a tag on a gift. Do you make ornaments with your stamps and dies? Do you make shakers? I love doing both.

Hero arts just released their November My Monthly Hero and several add-ons. Head over their to check them out before they or the two kits I used here sell out!

I’d love it if you followed my blog. Thanks for visiting!
