Stamping on Kraft Cardstock

Hello! I was recently reminded of this Muted Colors Card I made for an A Blog Named Hero challenge in 2019. I enjoy stamping on kraft cardstock and the way it changes the ink color. So I thought today I’d give it a try again. The December challenge ended and a new one will be along soon but for today let’s stamp on kraft cardstock!

  1. Cut one piece of Hero Hues Sand cardstock to 4 1/4” x 5 1/2”. Cut a second piece for the card base to 8 1/2” x 5 1/2”, scored and folded at 4 1/4”.
  2. Die cut the cloud frame from the December 2020 My Monthly Hero Kit from the single panel of cardstock. This will determine placement of sun stamp. Be sure to leave room for sentiment at the bottom.
  3. Line the die cut panel up over the folded card base in a Misti Stamping Tool. Determine placement of the sun from the kit. Stamp the solid layer with Rust ink. Stamp the short rays with Butterbar ink. Stamp the long rays with Serengeti Sunset Ombré Ink.

4. Stamp the solid layer for clouds in Tide Pool to Navy Ombré Ink lined up at bottom of sun. This ended up looking like grass or maybe water.

5. Stamp the birds with the same Tide Pool to Navy Ombré Ink.

6. stamp the sentiment on the frame panel by first stamping in Unicorn White Pigment Ink, then Navy Ink to make it stand out more on the kraft cardstock. You can do this with the sun as well. It makes the images brighter and less muted.

7. Blend Unicorn White Pigment Ink over the clouds on the frame.

8. Adhere frame to card base with foam tape.

9. Add Nuvo Drops in White Blizzard to clouds and sun.

This is a relatively clean and simple card that could be mass produced easily. Do you like muted colors on kraft cardstock or do you prefer brighter colors? Sometimes, I like this style even though I’m usually creating very bright cards.

This My Monthly Hero kit and most recent kits have sold out very quickly. I encourage you to subscribe so you don’t miss a kit. I’ve been a subscriber since April 2018!

Don’t forget to check out and follow the A Blog Named Hero Facebook Page. There’s a lot of inspiration there! A new challenge will start soon.
