Hello! Do you find sympathy cards hard to create? Do you rush to make one when you need it? I’m here with a sympathy card I can add to my stash for those emotional and unexpected times when creating might be the last thing on my mind. This post was shared on the CutCardStock blog yesterday.
1. Die cut butterfly pieces from the Bonjour Large Die of Month. The bottom three layers use Basis Natural 80lb cardstock. The top layer is cut from Curious Metallics Virtual Pearl Cardstock.
2. Die cut three hearts from the scraps of virtual Pearl cardstock.
3. Die cut the frame from Geometrical Floral Frames Large Die of the Month twice from Curious Metallic Gold Leaf Cardstock.
4. Cut a piece of Basis Natural 80lb Cardstock to 4” x 5 ¼”.
5. Hot Foil the sentiment from the Mini Everyday Sayings Glimmer Hot Foil Plate and Die set on a scrap of Natural cardstock. I used Aura Glimmer Hot Foil. Die cut it from a sentence strip die.
6. Starting at the center of the bottom three butterflies, blend on a Peach Fuzz dye ink. Fade it out before getting to the edges of the wings. Watch the YouTube video above or follow this link to watch it.
7. Adhere butterflies with liquid glue only on the body and antenna. Die cut an extra set of antenna from the virtual Pearl cardstock and glue them in place under the top layer.
8. Adhere the frames with liquid glue. Add butterfly with liquid glue only on body and antenna.
9. Add hearts with liquid glue. Adhere sentiment with foam tape.
10. Add foam tape to the back of the panel and adhere to a white A2 card base cut from Classic Crest Solar White cardstock.
I loved using the Curious Metallic Cardstock on this sympathy card. It makes a subtle shiny addition to a rather serious card. This cardstock is 10% through the end of the month at CutCardStock if you want to get some for yourself. They have lots of colors. It’s a a nice weight too!
