Hello! I was so excited to use the new Susan’s Spring Flora from Spellbinders. They are 3D flowers and leaves that look so realistic and bring your project to life. I made a card with the first die set I used but I plan to get a box die and add some to the top for my next project. I’ll share how I put the card together. For instructions on adding detail to and assembling he flowers, check out the video on Spellbinders YouTube channel.

1. Die cut the Sweet Pea Etched Dies from Hero Hues Peony cardstock, inking edges with Concord and 9th Cranberry ink. Die cut the leaves with Hero Hues Meadow cardstock, inking the edges with Concord and 9th Clover ink.

2. Follow the instructions in the Spellbinders video to add detail to and assemble the flower and leaves. I found the Susan’s Garden Ultimate Tool Kit helpful when creating this card as well as many others since I got it.

3. Cut a piece of Hero Hues Nautical cardstock to 4 1/4” x 8 1/2”. I was able to cut down the panel to make the foiling even later on.

4. Center the oval Glimmer Plate (the plate came with the machine) on panel and hot foil using Rose Gold foil.

5. Using the flower as a guide, place the Happy Birthday glimmer plate and hot foil it. Be sure not to get any adhesive on the other foiled areas. Foil the small sentiment from Mini Everyday Sentiments on a scrap of Nautical cardstock and die cut it into a strip.

6. Cut the panel to approximately 3 3/4” x 5”, centering the image as much as possible. Mat on a piece of Peony cardstock cut slightly larger.

7. Adhere the flower and leaves with Bearly Arts Precision Glue at the top.

8. Add sentiment with foam tape and a small pink heart below it with liquid glue.

9. Add to a white A2 card base with foam tape.

I’ve mentioned before that I have an essential tremor in both hands, the left being far worse. This made putting the Susan’s Spring Flora from Spellbinders together a little challenging but it’s still so satisfying when I see how they turned out. I’m going to have to buy a lot more! I think in the future I’ll die cut a bunch of pieces and assemble them while watching a tv show or a movie. Tell me your tips and tricks for working with these die cuts in the comments!
