Hello! There’s a new release at Simon Says Stamp today and they sent me a few products to play with. I’m so excited to share this card I made using the new Make Magic collection from Simon Says Stamp. There are so many great products in this release. I look forward to sharing more cards with you!

All supplies used and the entire new release is list at the end of this post.

1. Add Pixie Spray or another strong but temporary adhesive to the My Sunshine Stencil. I would never have achieved the clean edges without it. Place stencil centered on a piece of Bristol Smooth Cardstock cut to 4 1/4” x 5”.

2. Find and mark the center of the panel. Mark off sections at the edge with a pencil to divide the panel into rays. This way you can determine how many ink colors you will need.

3. Tape off the first section with low tack tape, such as 3M Post it Tape. Blend on the first color, applying the ink darker around the stencil and getting lighter towards the edge.

I used Concord and 9th inks in almost every color with blending brushes.

4. Repeat step 3 all the way around the panel. Be careful that the sticky side of the tape doesn’t pick up color that could contaminate another section.

5. Remove the stencil carefully. Either wait until the ink is completely dry before removing it or do not try to remove any adhesive residue until the ink is dry or it could smear on the white.

6. While you wait for the ink to dry, die cut the smallest two hearts from the Geometric Builders Hearts die set from metallic paper that coordinates with your inked areas.

7. Once ink is dry, remove adhesive residue with an adhesive eraser and any ink that got on the white area with a sand erasure.

8. Cut the panel down to 4” x 5 1/4”. This is a good time to straighten things out or make things even.

9. Using an N2 Copic marker outline the words on the left and bottom sides only. Use an N0 marker to blend it out slightly if the shadow is too harsh. Remove any marker that gets into the white with a Copic 0 colorless blender.

I tested using copics over the inks on a scrap paper and they did not react to the marker.

10. Stamp the sentiment from Magical to Me stamp set with embossing ink. Sprinkle on white embossing powder and heat set. Die cut with Sentiment Label dies.

11. Adhere the hearts with liquid glue in their coordinating color section.

12. Using liquid glue, adhere tiny iridescent stars throughout panel. I’m still not sure I like this part but I know I thought things were too plain for my taste before and being clear makes them very subtle.

13. Add panel to an A2 card base with foam tape.

You wouldn’t have to use a rainbow of colors. Using monochromatic colors and repeating them halfway through would be fun. You could even just use one color for the entire thing and forget the rays.

I have another card to share in a few days. Meanwhile, head over to Simon Says Stamp to check out their Make Magic Release. It’s truly Magical!
