How to Create a Simple & Bright Stenciled Background

Hello! There’s a new A Blog Named Hero Challenge for August. This month is all about Background Basics! The website is currently unavailable so you can see the design team creations on Facebook and Instagram. When you share your project please use the hashtag #abnhaugustchallenge to enter the challenge.

1. Spray the stencil included in the August My Monthly Hero kit with Pixie Spray and let dry. I tried using this stencil without it and I just made a mess, plus I just love those crisp lines.

2. Cut a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock to 4 1/4” x 5 1/2” and place stencil over it.

3. Blend over the stencil with Reactive inks in Taffy, Fruit Punch, Creamsicle and Lemon Drop. Remove stencil and allow the inks to dry.

4. Die cut the word “love” included in the August kit from each of the following Hero Hues Cardstock colors: Cherry, Cranberry, Papaya, Canary, Pitch Black. Adhere the pieces together in the same order with Cherry on bottom and Pitch Black on top.

5. Stamp “sending” with Intens-ified Black Ink. Stamp hearts with the colors they overlap. I used Fruit Punch, Creamsicle and Lemon Drop

6. Cut the panel down to 4” x 5 1/4” and adhere to an A2 card base with foam tape.

7. Adhere “love” with liquid glue.

8. Add crystal clear lacquer pen over the die cut letters and the hearts. Place somewhere safe to dry.

Remember you’ll need to post your entry into this months Background Basics challenge on Instagram with the hashtag #abnhaugustchallenge as the website gets a new look. If this card inspired you I’d love it if you used my hashtag, #whostolemyglitter.
