Can you ever have enough neutral cardstock? I know I can’t! This month’s special at CutCardStock features white and ivory cardstock. I don’t use ivory cardstock often but I love the way it works with the green background and gold sentiment.
1. Apply rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide to a smooth side of an Leaf Bundle Embossing Folder with a brayer. Place a piece of Basis Natural 80lb Cardstock to 4 1/4” x 5 1/2” in embossing folder and run through die cutting machine. This cardstock is thin so I needed a shim to get a deep impression. Set aside to dry.
2. Stamp small sentiment from the Thankful Flowers stamp set with Antique Gold Pigment Ink on a scrap of Basis Natural 80lb Cardstock. Set aside to dry then cut it into a small strip using the Sentiment Label Dies.
3. Die cut the Bold Thanks Die from Curious Metallic Gold Leaf cardstock.
4. Cut the embossed panel to 4” x 5 1/4”. This is the perfect time to even things out where they may need it. Add to an Basis White A2 Folded Blank Note Card with foam tape.
5. Add the large sentiment with tiny pieces of thin foam squares and the small strip with a slightly thicker foam tape.
6. Add gold Nuvo drops to card front.
There’s something enjoyable about using a basic color of cardstock. It takes away a lot of searching for the right color when you can just make it yourself. I love that using the Basis Natural 80lb Cardstock gave a different but softer appearance while white would have had a stronger contrast.
The Basis Natural 80lb Cardstock has a bit of texture that really came through in the inking and embossing. It also held up nicely to the embossing folder. There was no tearing and the paper has a great impression.
