Hello! I’m so thrilled to be a part of the September release of My Monthly Hero kit and add ons from Hero Arts. I’ve got two cards from the kit and two cards from the add ons to share today. Be sure to read to the end for giveaway information and the list of blog hop participants. A big thank you to Jennifer McGuire whose recent YouTube video inspired the Deco foil on the flowers!

The September My Monthly Hero release celebrates the pleasures associated with the arrival of autumn. From cool, crisp days with blowing leaves, to wonderful fall blooms and pumpkins galore, this release will get you in the mood for the changing season. Our main kit features a big, beautiful sunflower image, which can easily be colored with the layering stencils, inks and brush also included. Two useful message dies in a lovely font round out the kit.

Kit Contents:

  • 4″ x 6″ Clear Stamp Set
  • Coordinating Frame Cut
  • 2 Fancy Word Dies
  • 5 Color Layering Stencils
  • 1 Ink Blending Brush
  • 4 Ink Cubes (Butter Bar, Caramel, Root Beer, Key Lime Fizz)

Pre-order your kit today – we estimate kit shipping will begin Friday, September 10th and continue throughout the following week.

1. Cut a piece of Sand cardstock to 4 1/4” x 11”, score and fold at 5 1/2”.

2. Stamp on the front of the card base with the Buffalo Check Pattern Bold Print with Soft Brown ink. Splatter with gold ink. Let dry.

3. Line up the bottom left corner of the stencil from the main kit with the same corner of a piece of 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” piece of Sand cardstock. Tape in place.

4. Ink blend over each stencil layer with the bottom left corner always lined up. I used the colors in the kit except I do not have Caramel so I substituted Tangerine and blended Butterbar over to soften it. I also added some Forever Green to the second leaf layer.

5. Stamp the flower image over the stenciled flower with Intense Black Ink. Die cut image.

Tip

To line up the stamp properly, place the bottom left corner of the cardstock snug into the corner of the Misti. Place the first flower stencil snug in same corner. Lay the stamp over the stencil and push it around until it pops into place. Pick up the stamp with the Misti door and stamp image. If you’ve lined everything up throughout, it should stamp accurately.

6. Position the last stencil back in place over the flower, add Deco Foil Transfer Gel over the flower centers only. Remove stencil and allow to dry. Once dry add Gold Deco Foil and run through laminator.

7. Die cut the thanks die twice from Sand cardstock and once from Gold Glitter cardstock. Die cut the shadow from vellum. Glue together.

8. Add flower to card base with foam tape. Add the sentiment overlapping the flower. I added tiny pieces of foam tape to the bottom of the sentiment to make it stable.

9. Adhere gold sequins with liquid glue.

1. Cut a piece of Chestnut cardstock to5 1/2” x 8 1/2”, score and fold at 4 1/4”.

2. Stamp on the front of the card base with the Buffalo Check Pattern Bold Print with Cup O’ Joe ink. Splatter with gold ink. Let dry.

3. Line up the bottom left corner of the stencil with the same corner of a piece of 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” piece of Neenah Solar White cardstock. Tape in place.

4. Ink blend over each stencil layer with the bottom left corner always lined up. I used different colors this time – Butterbar, Pumpkin Pie, Lime Green, Moss, Soft Brown and Cup O’ Joe

5. Stamp the flower image over the stenciled flower with Intense Black Ink. Die cut image. Refer to the tip above.

6. Position the last stencil back in place over the flower, add Deco Foil Transfer Gel over the flower centers only. Remove stencil and allow to dry. Once dry add Gold Deco Foil and run through laminator.

7. Die cut the hello die twice from Chestnut cardstock and once from Gold Glitter cardstock. Die cut the shadow from vellum. Glue together.

8. Add flower to card base with foam tape. Add the sentiment overlapping the flower. I added tiny pieces of foam tape to the bottom of the sentiment to make it stable.

9. Adhere gold sequins with liquid glue.

1. Stamp the images from the Layering Chipmunk stamp set. I used Pumpkin Pie, Cup O’Joe and Intense Black for the chipmunk. I used Cup O’Joe and Intense Black Inks for the acorn. Die cut with coordinating dies.

2. Ink blend the edges of a piece of Cranberry cardstock cut to 4” x 5 1/4” with Root Beer Reactive Ink. I originally stamped the Buffalo Check Pattern Bold Print with Contour Ink but it faded into the cardstock too much. Splatter with gold ink and allow to dry.

3. Stamp the sentiment with Embossing and Watermark Ink on Chestnut Cardstock. Sprinkle with White Detail Embossing Powder and heat set. Die cut with a Nested Banner die.

4. Adhere the card panel to a piece of Chestnut cardstock cut to 4 1/4” x 5 1/2” with thin foam squares. Add chipmunk, acorn and sentiment with thin foam squares.

5. Add panel to and A2 card base.

I think the squirrel might look good if I added Clear Embossing Powder after stamping.

1. Stamp the Color Layering Pumpkins in a variety of colors. I used Butterbar , Pumpkin Pie, Just Rust, Red Royal, Lime Green, Moss. Die cut images with coordinating dies.

2. Stamp the Knitting Pattern Bold Prints on a piece of Plum cardstock cut to 4” x 5 1/4” with Intense Black Ink. Blend the same ink in the corners. Splatter with gold ink.

I used to be an avid knitter so when I saw the sentiment I had to pull out this Bold Print. I used to start my fall sweater in August so it was ready for the New York State Sheep and Wool Festival each year.

3. Stamp the sentiment from the Autumn Messages stamp set on Nautical cardstock with Embossing and Watermark Ink. Sprinkle with White Detail Embossing Powder and heat set. Cut to size.

4. Add a piece of Nautical cardstock to an A2 card base with adhesive tape. Add the card panel with foam tape. Next, place the pumpkins with thin foam squares. Adhere the sentiment thin foam squares.

I spent several hours one day making these four cards plus another card that I will share next week. Mostly, I just wanted to try different color combinations and I used most of them on the cards today.

  3. Lovely cards. I always enjoy fall colors and cards.

I know who stole your glitter. Every inch of my house you can locate glitter in it. I don’t know how it gets in places where you’d think it wouldn’t but it does. Sigh…..

  4. Such a sweet set of cards! Loving the Squirrel card so much! Reminds me of cartoon Chip and Dale! Happiness!

  5. Thanks for the clear instructions and tips on how you made these beautiful cards. Your color combinations worked out very well. thanks for the inspiration.

  6. That little squirrel is so cute! We have two squirrels that we feed in our area and I look forward to seeing them every day.

  7. Hi, Jennifer! You are a marvel. All these cards are terrific. I love the buffalo plaid background for two and that sweater stitch background is also fabulous. Your work is excellent!
