Hello! I just love Becca Feeken’s collection at Spellbinders. The dies are so romantic and floral. It’s fun to use these types of dies every once in a while. Today, I’m sharing two cards that combine bold colors with the florals and border dies.
1. Place the Arches Border and Rim dies from Romantic Slimline Borders at one side edge of an A2 card base, unfolded. Run through Platinum 6 die cutting machine.
Do your best to make sure the die only reaches the fold or use a partial die cutting technique to keep in only on the front.
2. Repeat step one for the other side of the front.
I chose to just cut the front edges but you could also cut the back with both dies or just the outer. If you are using thin cardstock, you may want to add an extra layer of cardstock for stability.
3. Cut a panel to fit just inside each border. Emboss it with Striped Slimline Embossing Folder and attach to card base with foam tape.
4. Die cut the flower from Cinch and Go Blossoms dies out of dark red, medium red, yellow, orange and pink cardstocks.
5. Die cut the sentiment from Yanas Layered Script Sentiments dies out of Silver Glitter Cardstock once and white cardstock three times. Adhere together.
It’s a good idea to add Stick It Adhesive to the back of the cardstock used for the sentiment. It’s very delicate and liquid glue can get everywhere.
6. Shape, assemble and adhere the flowers to the card, leaving a space for the sentiment.
7. Adhere sentiment with it sitting over and under some flowers.
8. Add yellow Nuvo Drops to the flower centers and a few places throughout card.
1. Cut a panel of white cardstock to 2 1/4” x 8 1/2”.
2. Die cut Perforated Border die from Romantic Slimline Borders into the panel.
3. Die cut white cardstock with Eyelet Border and Rim dies from Romantic Slimline Borders twice. Adhere to each side of panel.
4. Add panel to slimline card base with foam tape.
5. Die cut the sentiment once from Yanas Layered Script Sentiments dies out of silver glitter cardstock and four times from white cardstock. Die cut the shadow once from vellum.
6. Adhere the glitter layer and two layers of white cardstock together and then to the vellum. adhere two layers of white cardstock to the back of the vellum for dimension.
7. Shape, assemble and adhere flowers cut when making the first card, leaving space for the sentiment.
8. Adhere the sentiment on and under the flowers.
9. Add yellow Nuvo Drops to the flower centers and the card.
I wasn’t sure about these cards when I started. The colors were so bold. I thought they might be too bold. I really love how the borders turned out on the A2 card. I didn’t cut the flowers flush to the edge yet because my slimline envelopes are big enough to fit the overhang.
Thanks for visiting!
