UPDATE: 7pm 10/11/22 THE DIES ARE BACK IN STOCK

Hello! The Christmas Flea Market Finds from Spellbinders and Cathe Holden features two different bowl die cut sets, the Square Base and Sides Bowl Deep Etched Dies and the Hexagon Base and Side Bowl Deep Etched Dies. I used the Square Base and Sides Bowl Deep Etched Dies for these two bowls. I’ll explain what I did noting any changes I would make.

Die cut the pieces from Square Base and Sides Bowl Deep Etched Dies out of Damask Love Life’s a Party 6×8 paper pad twice for each bowl and adhere together with a strong glue. Spellbinders is recommending Coccoina Glue but I have not tried it yet.

Next time, I will adhere the papers together before die cutting as I had a bit of trouble lining up the holes. I also would like to try double sided adhesive instead of a paste.

For the taller bowl I used a stitch with all six strands of a dark gray embroidery floss. I did not feel I could get it tight enough to make a sturdy bowl doing this. I was not too concerned about the paper ripping but it still feels sloppy to me.

For the smaller bowl, I used the blanket stitch and Diamant Gold Thread. Instead of doing the blanket stitch on each piece then sewing together, I used the blanket stitch to attach the pieces together. I think it worked well except that my paper was still bendable. With sturdier paper, it may be better to do it the way the video recommended.

I didn’t want to use the vintage style papers. I think the bowls look fabulous with bright, modern print papers. All sorts of papers will work. I also think these would be fun for kids to make!

These dies seem to be out of stock everywhere. I will update this post and my social media when they are back in stock. I wrote this post a while ago and was waiting to post it. I posted it anyway so I didn’t forget about it.

Thanks for visiting!
