Have you tried reverse hot foiling yet? I’m sharing two more cards using the Spellbinders Seahorse Kisses collection where I use reverse hot foiling and it worked out beautifully!
To reverse hot foil, you first foil the usual way, then you place the leftover piece on a solid hot foil plate, shiny side toward the plate, add a piece of cardstock and foil. You may need to play around with things to get a good impression with this technique but it’s completely worth it!
1. Emboss white cardstock using the Cast Away 3D Embossing Folder. Add Aegean and Orchid Core Ink from the top and bottom, combining the two colors in the middle. Splatter with White Iridescent Shimmer Spray.
2. Hot foil the Under the Sea Glimmer Plates with Aura Hot Foil Roll, saving the leftover foiling. Hot foil sentiments from Seahorse Kisses Sentiments and Seahorse Floral Die cut and save these pieces for later.
3. Use the leftover foil and the Essential Glimmer Solid Rectangle plate to create negative foiled pieces. Cut these with coordinating dies.
4. Add the embossed panel to an A2 card base with a strong adhesive tape.
5. Adhere negative foiled pieces plus the original sentiment to the card with thin foam squares. Finish card with sequins in Teal and Purple.
Since my ink blending was so bright, I was worried I wouldn’t be able to make the colored images stand out. I think reverse foiling was the perfect substitution.
