Spellbinders Clubs with Simple Ink Blended Backgrounds

Sometimes a background is what finishes a card off perfectly. Using the July Embossing Folder of the Month and the July 3D Embossing Folder of the Month from Spellbinders on these three cards made these three cards feel complete. It also helps keep the background from being distracting on a card as busy as the red one, where the July Large Die of the Month has so many elements.

Before continuing, did you know Spellbinders is having a huge Christmas in July sale? That includes up to 50% off many past club kits. Visit the shop to check out some great deals.

1. Emboss a piece of white cardstock with the July Embossing Folder of the Month. Add Cherry Core Ink from the bottom right towards the top left, fading out about 3/4 of the way up. Add a bit of Cranberry Core Ink to the bottom right only. Splatter with White Iridescent Shimmer Spray and let dry.

2. Die cut the pieces of the July Large Die of the Month from various colored cardstocks. Colors are linked and listed below.

3. Once dry, adhere the embossed panel to an A2 card base.

4. Assemble pieces and begin adhering to card using Bearly Arts Precision Glue.

5. Add Glossy Accents to berries, nose, gingerbread person eyes and buttons and candy cane. set aside to dry.

6. Die cut sentiment from Red Mirror Cardstock once and red cardstock twice. Adhere together and place on card base. Add white gel pen highlights.

1. Emboss a piece of white cardstock with the July Embossing Folder of the Month. Add Seafoam Pawsitively Saturated Ink from the bottom right towards the top left, fading out about 3/4 of the way up. Add a bit of Surf Pawsitively Saturated Ink to the bottom right only. Splatter with White Iridescent Shimmer Spray and let dry.

2. Die cut the snowflake from the July Stitching Die of the Month ideally out of White Glitter Foam. Alternatively cut it from white glitter cardstock (what I used) but add foam tape behind for dimension.

3. Add the embossed panel to an A2 card base. Adhere the snowflake to card. If using glitter foam, place the die cut in the die, add liquid glue, then place on card. This makes it easier to keep the shape.

4. Die cut the sentiment from the Tiny Merriment Die Set. Add ink blending with the Surf Ink and back with a scrap of glitter cardstock.

5. Add the sentiment, placing foam tape where it doesn’t overlap snowflake. Add Clear Iridescent jewels to snowflake tips.

1. Emboss a piece of white cardstock with the July 3D Embossing Folder of the Month. Add Pine Core Ink from the bottom right towards the top left, fading out about 3/4 of the way up. Add a bit of Forever Green Core Ink to the bottom right only. Splatter with White Iridescent Shimmer Spray and let dry.

2. Die cut the pieces from the July Large Die of the Month from a variety of cardstocks and assemble with Bearly Arts Precision Glue.

3. Die cut the sentiment from the Tiny Merriment Die Set out of Gold Mirror Cardstock and the solid strip from Fern Cardstock. Adhere together.

4. Cut panel down to 4 x 5 1/4” and adhere to an A2 card with foam tape.

5. Add assembled die cuts and sentiment with liquid glue and thin foam squares. Add Glossy Accents to berries.

I prefer to ink blend on embossed panels after they’ve been embossed. I love when extra ink catches on the raised areas. I think it adds more dimension.
