Shaker Card Using Hero Arts December Add Ons

I love the size of the new Hero Arts Letter Fancy Dies and I wanted to use them to make a shaker element for my card. You could use any letter(s) you wish or even use the Number Fancy Dies instead.

1. Ink blend a piece of Smooth White Cardstock using Azalea, Paradise and Orchid Core Inks and blending brushes. Splatter with White Iridescent Shimmer Mist.

2. Cut the letters U and R from the panel and set them aside. Be sure to leave enough space to add foam tape around them. Keep the inside piece for the “R” as well.

3. Stamp the sentiment from the Message Basics Stamp Set using Intens-ified Black Ink.

4. Use the Alphabet Embossing Plate on the background.

Be sure to stamp before embossing! You aren’t likely to get a solid stamped letter over the embossing.

5. Adhere acetate sheet behind the letters in the panel then add foam strips around letters, leaving no gaps. I chose to separate the two letter so there would always be glitter in them.

6. Add Iridescent Earth Safe Glitter to the wells created by each letter. Add another panel you seal the shaker. You could either add the letters on this panel or add ink to it for more color.

7. Add shaker to an A2 card base.

I added foam tape behind the center areas of each letter. If you plane to use bigger elements for your shaker you might want to skip the foam tape there so they have more room to move around. Also like to add liquid glue to the foam tape and place something heavy over shaker so the foam tape sticks better. I’ve had shakers fall apart when using just the foam.
