Tim Holtz & Sizzix Embossing Folder Release – Inking Technique

Scrapbook.com sent me some Tim Holtz embossing folders to create with that are now available on their site! I took two of these folders and used a simple inking technique that really makes the embossing stand out.

1. Emboss a piece of white cardstock using the Vault Lace Multi-Level Embossing Folder.

2. Using the side with more line detail exposed, run a rainbow of Distress Oxide Inks over the embossing. I used Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade, Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron, Prize Ribbon and Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide Inks. Splatter with Black Tone on Tone Metallic Spray.

3. Die cut the sentiment from Grow With The Flow Die Set once from black glitter cardstock and twice from black cardstock. Adhere together.

4. Die cut three flowers and one leaf from Vault Side Order – Floristry. Ink using the same inks as the background. Cut the centers from black glitter cardstock.

5. Cut panel to 4 x 5 1/4” and adhere to an A2 card base. Add sentiment then flowers with thin foam squares.

Instead of using gold pigment ink you can use a gold paste instead!

1. Emboss a piece of black cardstock using the Vault Gears Multi-Level Embossing Folder.

2. Using the side with more line detail exposed, run Antique Gold Pigment Ink Pad over panel. Cut to 4 x 5 1/4” and adhere to a black A2 card base.

3. Die cut the sentiment from Made to Bloom Die Set once from gold glitter cardstock and twice from black cardstock. Adhere together and add to card.

4. Die cut two smaller flowers from Vault Side Order – Floristry. Ink using Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide. Rub Antique Gold Pigment Ink Pad along edges. Cut flower centers from gold glitter cardstock. Adhere to card in gear centers with thin foam squares.
