Hello! Have you seen Spellbinders new Stitched Alphabet Collection? I love that these letters look great without stitching so if I don’t have time or want to stitch I don’t have to. I decided to make a very special birthday card for my mother. It would also work great as a Mother’s Day card but I didn’t finish it in time.
1. Die cut the letters from the Stitched Alphabet Collection out of Peony cardstock and the outline from Green Apple cardstock.
In a recent video, Yana Smakula recommended cutting the letters a second time and adhering together before stitching. I didn’t do that here but after struggling not to ruin the delicate parts of the letters, I will definitely do that in the future.
2. Stitch the letters using three strands of a slightly darker pink embroidery floss. Cut the ends as short as possible.
3. Adhere the letters to their coordinating outline. I used a combination of adhesive tape and Bearly Arts Precision Glue. Place something heavy on the letters until the glue dries. I used the base plate for my Platinum 6 machine.
4. Emboss a 5” x 7” piece of Neenah Solar White cardstock with the Loops Embossing Folder. Adhere to an A7 card base with a strong adhesive to keep the embossed panel from warping.
5. Adhere the letters to the panel with foam tape. You’ll probably need to use a T-square ruler to line things up properly.
6. Die cut two white butterflies from Delicate Butterflies die set and their bodies from white cardstock. Adhere to card.
7. Hot foil the sentiment from Stitched Alphabet Glimmer Descriptors Hot Foil Plates with Aura Hot Foil Roll on Hammermill cardstock.
8. Cut the sentiments into strips and adhere with foam tape.
9. Add white pearls to the center of the stitched flowers and scattered throughout card with Bearly Arts Precision Glue.
You can buy just the letters you need or Spellbinders sells them as a bundle as well. They didn’t take to long to stitch up. I stitched most of them while watching television or YouTube videos.

Love your card! I’ve ordered the complete set, I think there are just so many options! Including a set of cards to sell at an upcoming tent sale being put on my by needlework group (proceeds support Woodlawn Plantation).And my needlework group is considering using these as a make and take AND for a kids’ class we put on every summer! I’m also very grateful for your comments on Yana’s suggestion. I was going to follow Yana’s suggestion anyway because well, it’s Yana, but it’s good to have someone else second the suggestion — especially for non-needle crafters! 🙂
