Hello and welcome to the Hero Arts July My Monthly Hero Blog Hop and Giveaway! I made the first card using new Core Ink colors. The second card was just something I wanted to try and I love the results.

Kit Value: $75
Kit Cost: $34.99

We’re serving up tropical summer vibes with our July My Monthly Hero release! This month’s kit features a flock of flamingos in HeroScape form. Layer the included inks to easily stamp the gorgeous birds, and create a scene with water below and clouds above. Your recipient will be tickled pink when they receive your card, embellished with the colorful gems or Teal Hero Pearls that round out the kit.

  • 6″ x 8″ Clear Stamp Set
  • 7 Coordinating Frame Cuts
  • 5 Ink Cubes (Cotton Candy, Peony, Azalea, Arctic, Paradise)
  • Self-Adhesive Pink & Teal Gems
  • Teal Hero Pearls (0.6 oz)

1. Lay Rays of Color Stencil over a 4 1/4” x 5 1/2” piece of Canary Cardstock. Add Papaya Core Ink from the bottom about 1/3 of the way up. Next blend to almost the top with Butter Bar Core Ink.

2. Remove stencil and gently blend over entire panel to soften the ink.

3. Stamp the layering flamingos from the July My Monthly Hero kit with Peony, Cotton Candy and Azalea Core Inks included in the kit. The beaks were stamped with Intens-ified Black Ink. It may help to die cut the images before stamping to get the legs in the proper position.

4. Stamp the water with Arctic and Paradise Core Inks. Stamp the grass with Green Hills Core Ink. Die cut all pieces.

5. Stamp the sentiment from the kit with Intens-ified Black Ink. I stamped the clouds with White StazOn Ink so they would show up better.

6. Add the water with foam tape and the flamingos and grass with Precision Glue XL.

7. Adhere panel to an A2 card base. Add pink and gold sequins with liquid glue.

The Reactive Cubes work much better for this technique!

1. Stamp the flamingos from the July My Monthly Hero kit with a rainbow of Reactive Ink Cubes. I used Fruit Punch, Creamsicle, Lemon Drop, Key Lime Fizz, Splash and Thistle. I inked the section then used a blender brush to soften the edge of the color, stamped it then repeated with the next color.

For the first layer, I stamped the image only once. For the second layer, I stamped the image twice and the third, three times. The beaks were stamped with Intens-ified Black Ink. Die cut with coordinating die.

2. Stamp the sentiment on white cardstock cut to 4” x 5 1/4” with Intens-ified Black Ink.

3. Cover the sentiment with tape then place printer paper to mask off the edges creating an open diagonal down the center. Splatter on the ink colors used to stamp the image.

4. Place the image on the panel with Thin Foam Squares. Place panel on an A2 card base with foam tape.

5. Add a rainbow of sequins around the flamingos and a red heart next to the sentiment with liquid glue.
