How to Alter Words for a Sweet Mother’s Day Card

Hello! I’m still creating with the new Anita Jeram stamps from Colorado Craft Company. I used the For Mom Names stamp set to stamp the word Grammy. My son, who is 18 now, decided that’s what he’d call my mother when he was about 2 1/2. It’s almost impossible to find a “Grammy” stamp so I combined two stamps for this simple Mother’s Day card.

Colorado Craft Company has free US shipping and $5.95 international shipping April 12 and 13. Use the code FREESHIPPINGJK for free or flat rate shipping.

1. Stamp image from For Mom stamp set on Neenah Classic Crest cardstock with Gina K Designs Amalgam Ink in Obsidian.

2. Color with Copic markers and cut out with coordinating dies. I used the following markers: BG70, BG72, BG75, BG78, R30, R32, R35, R37, R39, YG03, YG13, YG17, N0, N2, N4, N8, E53, E55, E57, YR23, YR27, YR31

3. Cut a piece of white cardstock to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2”. Blend on Distress Ink in Speckled Egg starting behind where the die cut will be placed. Fade out before getting to edges.

4. Position the granny stamp from For Mom Names centered above where die cut will be placed. Ink up the “gra” only with Speckled Egg and stamp. I’d recommend a Misti stamp positioning tool for this part.

5. Position the mommy stamp from For Mom Names lining up “a” and second “m”. Ink up “mmy” with Speckled Egg and stamp.

6. Position “Happy Mother’s Day” stamp above word and stamp with Speckled Egg.

7. Cut panel down to 4” x 5 1/4”. Add die cut image with thin foam squares.

8. Add foam tape to panel and attach to A2 top fold card base.

9. Add white heart with liquid glue.

  1. So sweet ! Your coloring amazes me every time, so beautiful. Like you, I struggle sometimes to find the exact sentiment I want, so I also alter the ones I’ve got….a lot of patience needed but it works. Thanks so much for sharing.

  2. What a darling card! Love the way you colored this adorable image! This kitty is the cutest ever!

  3. Love your Grammy card. Our granddaughters call us Memaw & Pappy. I can never find those in stamps either. Nice “save” on Grammy. My favorite stamp set is proud of you!
